Pink Saturday

I had to take a break from pink Saturday because I was too busy. I missed visiting everyone, so I am back this week. You can visit Beverly at How Sweet The Sound to see all the other participants or to sign up for next week.

One of the local yarn shops was having a huge sale, so I went to check it out. I got 60$ worth of yarn for $20. There is more, but it is not PINK!! I love to get good quality yarn for great prices, it makes knitting much more affordable.

I got home from the grocery store to find two packages on my front porch, which is always exciting. This one is from the super sweet Deb. It is a gift for hosting the Vintage Pink Christmas Swap. She made the cards, aren’t they lovely! So thoughtful, I love it all! Thank you Deb!

The second package was from my partner for the Just for You FQ Seceret Santa Swap. I know it is not pink, but I was so happy with everything, I had to post it. I really want to make a vintage skirt from the pattern, I love that era of clothing.

A close up of the darling vintage pottery deer, he looks so cute with all of my other pottery!

She also sent me this vintage apron!!!! She attached a note saying if I didn’t like it I could use the fabric for a project! Never, I love it.

Happy Pink Saturday, I must get ready to take the kids to the Library.

Updates

********************WARNING***************************** There are a lot of photos on this post!

Let’s start with things that are bugging me. 1: I decided not to pay for Premium shipping services for my Shoppe, it was an additional fee on top of my web hosting fees. I thought it was not worth it,now I am thinking it may have been. Every order I have received since I canceled this has had goofed up shipping. I thought I fixed the problem and apparently not. If anyone has wanted to place an order and the shipping stopped them, contact me and I will get it straightened out, plus you will get an extra goodie for your troubles. I hope to get the shipping under control in the next day or two.

2: I lost my cell phone:( On Halloween and keep hoping it is going to turn up. It has not, so I have been using Chad’s old cell since then. UGGGG So if you don’t have Chad’s old cell number, email me and I will give it to you! I hate using his phone, it has a dumb ring tone, it is not pink and it has a LA Dodgers screen saver:(

3: Still can’t get the Cache to clear, I found the tab at the top under tools, and I clicked on clear cache and Nothing happened. UGGG Still can’t upload photos on Flock.

I thought there was something else, Hmm.. can’t seem to remember though!

Ok, on to some fun stuff.

Thank you all for the crock pot recipes and the crock pot web site. I am excited to try them.

ATTENTION PINK CHRISTMAS SWAPPERS!!!- Just wanted to make sure everyone is taking the time to get to know their partners. The send by date is November 25th. If you have any questions please feel free to email me.

There was a garage sale in my neighborhood over the weekend, so I popped in. The lady who’s house it was at was a crafter and quilter, and a vintage quilt collector, it was heaven.

This is a terrible picture, but this is a whole shadow box full of vintage black glass buttons! Love them!!!!!!

1 skein of verigated eggplant wool yarn, and half of a vintage chenielle comforter. Since this one is all ready cut up I am actually going to use it for crafting and not as a pretty decoration.

One more vintage quilt for my collection! She had about 20 for sale and I would love to have had them all, but this one was cheap and the others were not!

I got this one also, it is a small lap size and was super cheap!

Is this not the cutest vintage rocking horse, I got it for 3$ it looks adorable in Grahams room:)

This is a swap I received for the Pay it forward swap. I love everything, I am so excited about the mica flakes!

I made this neck warmer for my swap partner for the Seceret Santa Fat Quarter Swap. I made myself one and I LOVE it!

Here are all he goodies I sent to my Fat Quarter swap!

This is Grahams idea of an outfit to go outside in! Mind you it was freezing out. The girls and I were cracking up!

Here is Gab jumping into the huge pile of leaves. She hates this picture, I love theat she is in mid air! My girls were a bit hesitant to go in the leaves at first, but they got over it.

Playing in the trees!

Leaf head!

Leaf piles are so much fun!

My three G’s in a pretty red tree.  They are in their grubby clothes, but I love this picture!

Miss Gwen jumping in the leaves. I love the look of joy on her face!

I made these heart ornaments out of a vintage quilt.  I am taking them to the craft fair I am going to and if i make some more, I will put a few in the Shoppe.

I made these trees before Halloween, they are not done yet, I need to fancy them up. Sarah wrote a great tutorial on how to bleach and dye trees.

I made this bunting before Halloween, and I had it hung out front, but it would not stay up. So inside it came, I don’t love it here, so I may relocate it again.

These two were both made before Halloween, this picture doesn’t show how sparkley and glittery it is.

I made these ornaments for the craft show. There is a tutorial somewhere online and if I can remember where I found it I will let you know.

I made this ornament the other day, I am planning on selling it, even though I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEE it!  Below is the back, it is vintage wallpaper.

I knitted up this scarf the other night, I am not sure what I am doing with it, it will probably be a Christmas gift!

Sheesh that was a long post!  Making up for the lack of posting lately.  Off to bed! XOXO Jen

Estate Sale Finds

I finally figured out the problem, still not sure how to fix it though.  I usually use flock as my browser and for some reason  it was not letting me upload photos on word press.  The only way I got these photos uploaded is by doing it through explorer.  I read something on word press help about clearing my cachet, have no idea how to do that, but it is supposed to help the problem.

Enough of that, lets get on with the fun finds.  A couple of weekends ago the kidos and I went to an Estate sale.  The girls were great and were having fun digging through the boxes of stuff. Graham was so not fun, he wanted to get down and run around like a crazy person. YIKES.

I got this lovely vintage pottery urn, it is pretty big.  I got it for super cheap because it has a chip in it, you can not see it when it is with all my other pottery.

I love this vintage baby book, it is empty too.

Vintage childrens cups, amber tooth pick holder and a vintage SNUFF container.  No idea what snuff actually is, but I love the old container.

I needed these like I needed a hole in my head, but I love them. They are still sitting in my dining room until I have the chance to find a home for them.

Chad is reading over my shoulder and not seeing the item he said” I think a hole in the head would be better”.  Such a card!

A vintage pink towel for 25 cents and a set of vintage sheets still in their package.  Gwen likes them, so they make end up being hers, I had projects in mind.  We shall see.

I bought a box of vintage sewing items without looking through it.  I found these pink electric scissors.  They do not work, but I think they will look cute in my sewing room.

A vintage noise maker, a small vintage santa mug and a vintage ornament.  The kids love the noise maker.

The fabric in the background is a table cloth, I love the color and think the flowers look like poinsettas.  The aqua creamer and sugar will be going into the Shoppe. I am keeping the bowl, it goes with the others we have.

I love this vintage purse, I think it will be super cute for the summer.

Gwen was super excited when she dug this out of a box. She wears her vintage aprons around the house all the time.  So I paid the 50cents because she was so excited about it.  It is super cute:)

I love this vintage nighty, I can not wait to wear it!

Gabby was super excited to find this jewelry box, they each all ready have small ones.  Hers is overflowing, so this was a perfect find.  I found the jewelry at a sale in my hood.

Here are some of the goodies I got in the box of sewing supplies.

I went to a sale today and got a few fun items, I will post them later in the week.  I hope to get some new fun items added to the Shoppe in the next day or two.

Hope the rest of your weekend is great!

I HATE WORD PRESS

My blog is hosted through word press, and I HATE IT!  I have been trying for the last TWO days to post photos from the last estate sale I went to. UGGG.  It will not let me add any photos, sooooo annoying.

I have pretty much hated word press since I moved my blog from blogger earlier this year. It is soo not user friendly unless you are super knowledgeable in web design and HTML.

I am in the process of working with my web guy to move my blog BACK to blogger.  My shoppe will stay here at roseylittlethings.com  This will be happening in the very near future.

I am happy to be going back to blogger, but worried about starting all over again.  I will keep you posted on when exactly this is happening, so you can change your bookmarks AGAIN. SORRY!  Hopefully I will be able to upload my photos soon!                       XOXO JEN

A good time had by all

The day before Halloween I decided to make some play dough for the kids.  I mainly was making it for Graham thinking the girls would not want to play with it.  I was wrong.

Graham played with it for a long time, he did sample it a few times! Thank goodness it is edible.

Gwen also played with it for a long time, I think she enjoyed it more than Graham.

I got up Halloween morning and made the girls bat shaped sandwiches.  Later when I looked in the fridge this is what I found.  Gab had made it while she was eating her breakfast and snuck it into the fridge.

The girls each had a friend over after school.  We were trick or treating at their house later that evening.  I not only had to get my whole family ready, but the other girls wanted their makeup done and one needed a updo.  I managed to get us all out the door by 5pm. We had to trick or treat the 4 neighbors in our court. We were going to the other neighborhood because we have no street lights, no sidewalks and the houses are really far apart.  Our neighbors are all older people other than my neighbor Robin.  The neighbors were so excited to have trick or treaters, they said it had been 20 years since they had any.  This is the girls walking up our neighbors driveway.

My cute cowboy walking down the street after visiting the neighbors.  He did not want his picture taken, as you will see in the picture I tried to get of the three of them together.

I KNOW this picture is blurry, Chad would not stop walking.  I think it is cute anyway.  I made Chad’s faux boots at 2pm, I almost bought some at the party store, but they were 10$.  I knew I had enough of the fabric from Grahams costume leftover to make his boots.

I just wanted ONE picture of the three of them together.  This was the best one.   Graham wanted to run around since he was out side, not pose for pictures.  Maybe next year:)

Every year I think I am not going to dress up.  Every year on Halloween, I can’t stand not dressing up and I pull something together at the last minute. Chad had been a pirate last year for the girls father daughter dance for Girl Scouts, so I decided to be a pirate with him. It is not the best picture of either of us, but it is the ONLY one we got.

Trick or Treating

Leading the pack. He ran from house to house for much longer than I thought he would.

I decided I needed to take photos of the beautiful trees I am staring at out my windows.  Look at the trees behind my house.

I had to go to the party store on Halloween to get Graham some guns for his costume, and found these grave stones.  They were 75% off, so they were only $1.50 each. I will be super excited to put them out next year.

These are the trees I see out my family room french doors, they are sooooo pretty.

I see this one out my kitchen window.

It is really beautiful here right now, the trees are so amazing.

Have a great Sunday!

My Little Pumpkins

Saturday we went to a pumpkin patch, it was a beautiful day!

Graham with all of our goodies!

Me and Graham.   Gabby took this photo.

Trying to get a good photo of three kids is always a challenge. This is the best of a ton that I took!

We got home about 4:15 and had to be at the carnival at Grahams school at 5:30. Gwen got ready quickly and only needed me to put freckles on her face. Gabby was originally planning on being goth, but we decided it wasn’t appropriate for the church carnival.  So we dug through the costume totes and she decided to be a fifty’s girl. She got dressed and then I did her makeup. I also dug out my old Minnie mouse costume for Gabs friend Emily. After I applied Gabs makeup I did Emily’s. I then had ten minutes until we were supposed to be there. I woke Graham up and got him in what I thought was going to be his costume.  He was going to be a Train conductor. I was planning on him wearing his overalls.  Well, they were about 3inches short, so he looked like a huge dork!  The freaking out began. I have totes full of little girl fluffy tutus and costumes, but no boy costumes. YIKES!  He ended up wearing the cheetah costume as it was the least girly.

YIKES- the water mark got HUGE!!!

He only got called a girl once!

I made this costume for Gab when she was 4, and Gwen wore it when she was 5.  Graham is not even two, yes it is a little big but still.  Big ol’ boy!

Gwen, Emily & Gabby.

I made & wore the Minnie skirt when I was 19.  I made the poodle skirt for gab when she was in kindergarten, I had to pin it so it would stay on her then, now it fits perfectly.  She has now decided to wear this on Halloween.  She said to me” I wish I could wear poodle skirts every day, maybe we can start a trend”.  That’s my girl!!!

Pretty girls!!

Gab & Emily our neighbor.

Emily needed a costume so I lent her my fifty’s outfit.  I made the skirt and the sweater is vintage!

Tonight we carved pumpkins, Graham was funny. He kept saying EWE!!!

Goof Ball!

Not clear on the concept son, you are supposed to take the seeds out not put them back in!

Gab helping Graham!

Busy girls!

Yummy!

OOOH!

Sweet hands!

Happy pumpkin week!

Swaps, Good Mail & Book Review

A very nice person out there in blog land left me a crock pot recipe in my comments last night. I am bummed because I accidentally deleted it, while deleting 30 stupid spam comments, and I can’t get it back! I don’t remember the persons name, blog or anything. It was a chicken recipe! If you are reading this please comment again!!

On to the topics at hand!

Here are the books I have read recently.  True Evil by Greg Iles and All Fall Down by Erica Spindler. Both were suspense filled mysteries!  They were good, I don’t know that I would personally go out and buy them.  We had All Fall Down in a box of books in the basement, and our neighbor lent us True Evil. I really enjoy Greg Iles books and look forward to reading more in the future.  I am trying to read all the books in the box in the basement so I can pass them along and get rid of the box:)

On to the good mail!!

I came home the other day to a large package on my porch and had no idea what it was because I had not ordered anything??  I opened it, and to my surprise it was a vintage bread box and inside were two vintage pink shiny brites!!!   I had made a comment on a blog that I visit often, Livin’ Vintage.  I commented that I LOVED the bread box she had found on her thrifting adventures.  Emily is so sweet she sent it to me because I loved it!!  THANK YOU!!!!

Isn’t it pretty.  I am going to add a vintage knob and line the bottom with some pretty paper! I may even use it in my sewing room, so I can enjoy while I am crafting:)

On to the swaps…

Here is a swap I sent.  It is for the Pay it Forward Parcel Swap on Flickr.  Each person lists 10 items they would love to have and you pick five of the items to send to your partner.  My partner requested:  Ephemera, so I put together a packet of goodies for her.  She also requested an orange FQ,  and aqua FQ and a polka dot FQ- they are all on top of the vintage pillow case she requested. She also asked for small super glue gel, which I found at the dollar store!!! Her last request was anything birds: so I copied a bird that Carrie had sent me in a swap awhile ago:)

Here is another I sent out recently- It was a secret Ghost swap for the five things group on flickr.  The rules were to send 5 things- one of them handmade. So I made another pumpkin and some crepe paper ruffles!

I had been on a swap break for a while and now there are a ton of amazing swaps for the holidays.  I am involved in quite a few!  I am answering the questions below for my partner for the Vintage Christmas Stocking Swap. Which is being hosted by Priscila at Casa Bella Chic, who is my partner for the Vintage Pink Christmas swap.  My partner for this swap is the wonderful Heidi at Fox Gloves Fabric & Folly, she was the hostess of the Very Vintage Halloween swap and the upcoming Very Vintage Christmas Swap.

On to the questions!

What do you collect: Everything!  Vintage quilts, pottery, aprons, Christmas decorations, milk glass-pink & white. Anything with roses on it, vintage books, and the list goes on and on!
What inspires you:  All the amazing women in blog land who are have turned their love of crafts, vintage, home decor and any other hobby into a successful business!
Favorite pastime:  I guess it would have to be knitting.  It sooths your sole, the repetition calms your mind when you are stressed out.
Whats one of your favorite vintage pieces in your home: That is a tough one, I love it all.  Maybe, my pink milk glass punch bowl!
What decoration or christmas item would you love to have:  I would love some of the little vintage houses, mercury glass anything, a vintage tinsel tree, a cloche, I could go on and on on this one too:)
What vintage piece would you love to have:  A beautiful buffet for my dining room!
Favorite Goodie or hot drink: I love milk chocolate and hot chocolate, apple cider is a fav at this time of year!
Any family tradition:  Yes, but they are going to be different this year because we are going to be here in NC while the Fam is back in CA & OR.
Greatest Christmas Memory: That is tough because I love Christmas and I mostly have great memories of them all.  When I was little I got a Barbie dream house from Santa, that was super exciting!  And the year Santa brought me diamond earrings was pretty great also.  I think my favorite memories are of the kids at Christmas, especially when they were little, it is so magical to them.  Graham should be fun to watch this year, hopefully he doesn’t try to climb the trees!!!

Time to get ready to go to the pumpkin patch.  Have a great day!

XOXO Jen
