Before & After

We worked on the girls bathroom over the weekend. Chas worked really hard to get the floor and the painting done. Unfortunately the before photo is not so great, the Realtor took it.  I thought I had taken a photo before he started the work, but I didn’t so you will have to look at the poor one from the Realtor.

Here is the before.  The floor was HORRID.

Gabby decided on a Paris theme, so we went with black and white floors and pale pink walls, with the pretty blue tub and toilet.

We still need to paint the cabinets black. I also need to make a window treatment. The girls and I are going to project the Eiffel Tower on the wall to the right that you can see better in the photo above.  It would be great if we actually finished a project all the way. Oh and a new faucet.

One more view.

We got a lot done before the fam arrived today, so we feel pretty good.  Now we can go relax at the beach:)

Off to bed since little man didn’t sleep at all last night.

Bloggers, Swaps and Giveaway Part 3

Every day I am amazed at the amount of talented women bloggers. I discover new sites each day and wonder how on earth I will keep up with all these sites. I spend a bunch of time on line as it is and as I discover new sites I think “Yikes, more time online.”   I have been swapping and keeping up with Carrie’s blog and now she and a friend have created a blog called Handmade Holidays through the year.  They had a challenge to make a Christmas binder to get organized ahead of time.  I thought it sounded like a good idea, so I made one.

Here is the binder before.  I got it at Target on clearance, so it was super cheap. But the best part is it is made from recycled materials.

Now it is super cute. Tomorrow I am going to make the dividers cute and fill in the sections.

Close up.

Here are some pictures of the latest swap I just did.

I knitted this dish cloth for my partner in a “flora and fauna swap”.  Heidi at spiritual knitter posted a picture of the one she made and the site for the pattern, so I decided I too must make one. This was one of the knitted items I finished last week but didn’t want to post a picture until my partner received it.

This is the whole package I sent my partner.

These are all the lovely goodies I received from the above mentioned Carrie.  Isn’t it all so pretty, I love love love it.

I have an idea for a swap I am going to host here on the blog in the next few days, so stay tuned.

Giveaway Part 3.  See giveaway rules HERE.  The question for today is…….When did I stat Blogging?

Good Luck!

Small Accomplishments

This week was good, I accomplished some things I have been meaning to do and had not got around to doing them.

#1: I did yoga in my basement twice.  I have not done yoga since leaving Napa, and BOY was I in need of some stretching.

#2: Chad Gab and I played tennis, which I have not done for at least two years.  How I know this is: Chad and the girls got me a pink tennis racket for Christmas a few years ago and it still had the tags on it!!

#3: I hung up the mountain of clothes in my room and finally unpacked two of the three bathroom boxes I had on my side of the bedroom.

#4: As you will see we have french doors in our family room, and they were unfinished when we moved in.  Chad and I had painted them a few months ago and started scraping the paint off each of the 30 squares.  There were two left to scrape, so Friday I finally scraped them.

#5: Also, on Friday I finished painting the built in shelf in our family room.

#6: Today, I actually vacuumed and mopped under the couches in my family room.

#7: We started painting the kitchen and almost have the sewing room re-painted.

We have lived in this house since March and I  am finally posting before and after pictures of our family room.  I decided not to post pictures of the house until there were before and after pictures.  You can look here and see the only other before and after photos of the house.

This is how we saw the house the first time we walked through, as you can tell, we have good imaginations. This doorway is into the foyer.

Another photo of how lovely it was before, that is the doorway into the kitchen.

Here is a picture when we moved in, as you can see we had the wood floor put in before we moved in, and we had the ceilings scraped.

The unfinished french doors and the super hideous ceiling fan.

Here is the shelving I finally finished painting and then I got to fill it up with all of my goodies.

One slight turn to the left to get more of the room.  I have all my yarn and knitting projects in the bottom cupboards, such awesome storage.

The next section of the room, you can see part of the painted french doors.  Our TV armoire use to have doors and be in the sewing room at my old house.  Also at the Napa house we use to have the TV on the wall, which didn’t really work with the layout of this room.  We may eventually hang it on the fireplace.

We hung this pretty chandelier that I got at a yard sale years ago for 5$. We also white washed the bricks, then decided to remove the glass doors so we need to white wash were we removed the doors.

fp-full.jpg

We still need to paint all of the pocket door, as you can see we have only primed them.  They are so handy because we can keep Graham contained. If you look back at the before pics, this is where we ripped down the shelf, we still need to do something about the old intercom system.

So now you see why I had to wait to show you before and after, the before was soooo bad.

Hope you enjoyed the pictures.  There is still time to sign up for my give away, so go here and sign up.

Welcome

Welcome to the new site, bear with us as we are still in the process of tweaking the layout a little bit. I am hoping to open the store in the next couple of weeks, so stay tuned. I have been busy this last week getting ready for my friend Wendy from CA to come stay with us. She is arriving today, I am so excited!!! Wendy and I have been friends since we were in 7th grade, wow that is a long time.

We fixed up the guest room, so you will actually get to see another picture of the house. We still need to paint and I need to make some window treatments, other than that it is cute and ready for company. SO come on out and stay awhile!!!

I started this post this am before I picked Wendy Lou up at the airport and now finally have a moment to finish it. The whole house is quiet and Wen is cozied up in the guest room. I am so happy she is here, we made dinner together and the whole fam went for a walk after dinner, and we saw the coolest thing… Fire Flies!!! I know this is not a big deal to a lot of people but I have never seen one in real life and they were soooooo neeto! I even called my sis and told her about it because I knew she would appreciate my sillyness, plus she has never seen one either.

This is the guest bedroom before we moved in, photo taken by our Realtor.
