Updates

********************WARNING***************************** There are a lot of photos on this post!

Let’s start with things that are bugging me. 1: I decided not to pay for Premium shipping services for my Shoppe, it was an additional fee on top of my web hosting fees. I thought it was not worth it,now I am thinking it may have been. Every order I have received since I canceled this has had goofed up shipping. I thought I fixed the problem and apparently not. If anyone has wanted to place an order and the shipping stopped them, contact me and I will get it straightened out, plus you will get an extra goodie for your troubles. I hope to get the shipping under control in the next day or two.

2: I lost my cell phone:( On Halloween and keep hoping it is going to turn up. It has not, so I have been using Chad’s old cell since then. UGGGG So if you don’t have Chad’s old cell number, email me and I will give it to you! I hate using his phone, it has a dumb ring tone, it is not pink and it has a LA Dodgers screen saver:(

3: Still can’t get the Cache to clear, I found the tab at the top under tools, and I clicked on clear cache and Nothing happened. UGGG Still can’t upload photos on Flock.

I thought there was something else, Hmm.. can’t seem to remember though!

Ok, on to some fun stuff.

Thank you all for the crock pot recipes and the crock pot web site. I am excited to try them.

ATTENTION PINK CHRISTMAS SWAPPERS!!!- Just wanted to make sure everyone is taking the time to get to know their partners. The send by date is November 25th. If you have any questions please feel free to email me.

There was a garage sale in my neighborhood over the weekend, so I popped in. The lady who’s house it was at was a crafter and quilter, and a vintage quilt collector, it was heaven.

This is a terrible picture, but this is a whole shadow box full of vintage black glass buttons! Love them!!!!!!

1 skein of verigated eggplant wool yarn, and half of a vintage chenielle comforter. Since this one is all ready cut up I am actually going to use it for crafting and not as a pretty decoration.

One more vintage quilt for my collection! She had about 20 for sale and I would love to have had them all, but this one was cheap and the others were not!

I got this one also, it is a small lap size and was super cheap!

Is this not the cutest vintage rocking horse, I got it for 3$ it looks adorable in Grahams room:)

This is a swap I received for the Pay it forward swap. I love everything, I am so excited about the mica flakes!

I made this neck warmer for my swap partner for the Seceret Santa Fat Quarter Swap. I made myself one and I LOVE it!

Here are all he goodies I sent to my Fat Quarter swap!

This is Grahams idea of an outfit to go outside in! Mind you it was freezing out. The girls and I were cracking up!

Here is Gab jumping into the huge pile of leaves. She hates this picture, I love theat she is in mid air! My girls were a bit hesitant to go in the leaves at first, but they got over it.

Playing in the trees!

Leaf head!

Leaf piles are so much fun!

My three G’s in a pretty red tree.  They are in their grubby clothes, but I love this picture!

Miss Gwen jumping in the leaves. I love the look of joy on her face!

I made these heart ornaments out of a vintage quilt.  I am taking them to the craft fair I am going to and if i make some more, I will put a few in the Shoppe.

I made these trees before Halloween, they are not done yet, I need to fancy them up. Sarah wrote a great tutorial on how to bleach and dye trees.

I made this bunting before Halloween, and I had it hung out front, but it would not stay up. So inside it came, I don’t love it here, so I may relocate it again.

These two were both made before Halloween, this picture doesn’t show how sparkley and glittery it is.

I made these ornaments for the craft show. There is a tutorial somewhere online and if I can remember where I found it I will let you know.

I made this ornament the other day, I am planning on selling it, even though I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEE it!  Below is the back, it is vintage wallpaper.

I knitted up this scarf the other night, I am not sure what I am doing with it, it will probably be a Christmas gift!

Sheesh that was a long post!  Making up for the lack of posting lately.  Off to bed! XOXO Jen

Estate Sale Finds

I finally figured out the problem, still not sure how to fix it though.  I usually use flock as my browser and for some reason  it was not letting me upload photos on word press.  The only way I got these photos uploaded is by doing it through explorer.  I read something on word press help about clearing my cachet, have no idea how to do that, but it is supposed to help the problem.

Enough of that, lets get on with the fun finds.  A couple of weekends ago the kidos and I went to an Estate sale.  The girls were great and were having fun digging through the boxes of stuff. Graham was so not fun, he wanted to get down and run around like a crazy person. YIKES.

I got this lovely vintage pottery urn, it is pretty big.  I got it for super cheap because it has a chip in it, you can not see it when it is with all my other pottery.

I love this vintage baby book, it is empty too.

Vintage childrens cups, amber tooth pick holder and a vintage SNUFF container.  No idea what snuff actually is, but I love the old container.

I needed these like I needed a hole in my head, but I love them. They are still sitting in my dining room until I have the chance to find a home for them.

Chad is reading over my shoulder and not seeing the item he said” I think a hole in the head would be better”.  Such a card!

A vintage pink towel for 25 cents and a set of vintage sheets still in their package.  Gwen likes them, so they make end up being hers, I had projects in mind.  We shall see.

I bought a box of vintage sewing items without looking through it.  I found these pink electric scissors.  They do not work, but I think they will look cute in my sewing room.

A vintage noise maker, a small vintage santa mug and a vintage ornament.  The kids love the noise maker.

The fabric in the background is a table cloth, I love the color and think the flowers look like poinsettas.  The aqua creamer and sugar will be going into the Shoppe. I am keeping the bowl, it goes with the others we have.

I love this vintage purse, I think it will be super cute for the summer.

Gwen was super excited when she dug this out of a box. She wears her vintage aprons around the house all the time.  So I paid the 50cents because she was so excited about it.  It is super cute:)

I love this vintage nighty, I can not wait to wear it!

Gabby was super excited to find this jewelry box, they each all ready have small ones.  Hers is overflowing, so this was a perfect find.  I found the jewelry at a sale in my hood.

Here are some of the goodies I got in the box of sewing supplies.

I went to a sale today and got a few fun items, I will post them later in the week.  I hope to get some new fun items added to the Shoppe in the next day or two.

Hope the rest of your weekend is great!

An Estate Sale and A Project

Just a quick post before bed. I just added three new items to the Shoppe. I have about twenty more I will hopefully get added tomorrow.

I went to an Estate Sale on Saturday, I only picked up a couple of things, this was one of them. Isn’t it darling. You can find this is the Shoppe, under the For the Home Category.

I got this quilt and the next quilt for 6$. Originally the lady said five for this one and I said I had to think about it because it is in bad shape. So I looked around some more and I found another quilt. I asked her how much and she said ” do you want them both?” YES! How about 6$ for both. SOLD It is in terrible shape, there are quite a few holes and stains, it really needs to be soaked, I will have to do it in the tub because of all the tears.

This one is in really good shape. There are a couple small stains, so I think it will get a soak also. There are no holes which is good. It is super heavy, which will make drying it interesting. I think it is made of a bunch of vintage feed sacs. I love that it was only 3$:)

Here are the two wreaths I have been working on, they still need a bow and hanger, so they will be in the Shoppe SOON.

I LOVE THIS!!!!!!!! I got it at the estate sale too, it was 1$. It is made in Italy. I have a lidded one that my friend Heidi in Napa gave me for my bday!

This box of cards was 25cents. Love the roses.

I did get one other item, but you will have to wait until I enter it in the Shoppe. I will give you a clue”McCoy”.

This lovely vintage three strand necklace is now in the Shoppe in the Jewelry and Baubles category. Why am I not keeping it you ask? I all ready have a few that are very similar.

You can find this darling vintage clutch in the wardrobe section. I also have a couple vintage silver purses:) I do love the rose clasp on this one. This is perfect for the up coming holiday season:)

I hope to get the rest posted tomorrow. A few sewn items, a few vintage items and another Ephemera packet.

Graham is teething again, and he is a big ol’ sissy so I must go deal with him!

Pink Saturday

For pink Saturday this week, I thought I would show one of my favorite rose pictures. I got it fairly recently at an estate sale. I only paid a couple of dollars for it. I love it. It is in my powder room:) I didn’t get around to taking other pictures once again, so this is the main event. I love the pink frame too. You can pop over to Beverly’s too see all the other pink goodness.

For some reason I thought the deadline for sign ups for my “Vintage Pink Christmas” swap was today. I just looked at the details and the deadline is the 15th, so there are a few more days left to sign up. So, partners will be assigned next week. If you want to sign up click here for the details or to sign up.

Have a pretty &pink Saturday.

Estate Sale Goodies

I got up at 6am yesterday, which was really tough since my son decided it was a good night to wake up every few hours.  Not sure why???  Maybe because he never got a normal nap that day, who knows.  There was an Estate Sale listed on Craigslist starting at 6:30am in a town called Eden.  I  got in the car and programed the navigation system and off I went.  After about a half hour of driving I checked to see how much farther I had to go, another half hour. UGGG, never would have gone all that way if I had realized it before I had driven halfway there.  I get to cute Eden and drive to the location and there is NOOOOOOOOOOO sale.  I was so upset to have driven all that way for NOTHING!!!!!!!!!  There were a couple garage sales, so I drove past them and they were crummy.  Back to Greensboro I went.  I went to two Estate sales in Greensboro and got some really nice stuff.

Here are all the goodies I got.

This darling pottery vase was sooo dirty the guy only charged me a dollar!  I have two others that are larger with the same flower design.  Great addition to the collection, especially for a dollar.

I got this little table at the same sale.  It was 8$  so I could not leave it there.  It was FILTHY, it took me about two hours of scrubbing to get it clean.  One of Gab’s friends Dads saw it and said he had a similar table that he sanded and repainted.  I told him that I like the shabby look and will prob leave it as is minus the dirt. Plus I hate painting furniture:)  I think it came out great and now I will find it a home, it could go anywhere.

Yet another set of vintage sheets.  These I love, wish they would fit my bed:(

This sewing basket was at the other sale and it is full of all kinds of goodies, can’t wait to sort through it.

He was at the first sale and was only 2$.  His eyes are a little funny, but when he is lit up he looks super cute. Can’t wait for Christmas:)

This was at the second sale and I grabbed it thinking it would be cute with some vintage flowers or some other goodies attached to spruce it up.  Who knows when I will get around to that!

Another vintage necklace.  Not sure if I will leave it as is or remake it.  I need to get my jewelry making stuff organized.

These were at the second sale and I think they only charged me 50cents for each stack. I am going to soak them and then we will add them to our cloth napkins to use daily.

Love all these vintage crocheted items.  They will be going in the store soon.  The shelf they are sitting on was 50cents.  It is a bathroom shelf, I however am going to use it in the sewing room.  It needs a good cleaning and some pink spray paint, more projects!

This vintage velvet hat is sooo cute.  I love it! I would wear it, however it doesn’t fit my apparently big head.  It will be going to the Shoppe where someone with a nice small head can enjoy it.

These were at the second sale.  Gwen has been asking for chalk, so now she has some. I am not going to give her the cute boxes, just the chalk:)  The dominoes may end up in the shoppe for people to use for altering.

Three cute vintage aprons.  I am keeping the pink and aqua one, but the others will be in the shoppe after a good wash and Iron.

This dress was at the first sale.  It was the first thing I grabbed.  It is super tiny, Gabby tried it on and the waist fit her. YIKES.  It is in excellent shape.  I will be adding this to the shoppe as well.  There are a lot of vintage dress collectors out there, they make great decorations.  If it went with anything in my house I would keep it.

This last item was not from a sale.  One of Chad’s co workers saw my site and thought I would like these.  SO SWEET!  I love them, makes me want to eat outside just so I can use them:)

We have a dishwasher again, YIPEEE.  I actually need to go unload it right now.

Happy Sunday!

Estate Sale Finds & Last Giveaway Question

I thought I could blog ever day this week, nope. I missed yesterday. Oh well:) I did get out to a sale on Friday and two estate sales on Sat. I got some good stuff, so excited to show you.

These are the two items I got Friday.  Graham and I went to the sale which started at 1pm around 2:30.  It was a little old couple down sizing.  They didn’t have much good stuff left, apparently people started showing up at 9am. Sheesh the sale didn’t even start till 1pm.  I found the frame in a box under the table, I love it because it is art deco and has roses on it.  The chair had a tag on it that said 1937, and the little man said” do you want to know how I know how old it is?”  Yes please I said.  “It was mine when I was a baby.”  I wasn’t going to get it because I didn’t really need another little chair.  However, Graham was in love with it and fell apart when I put it back.  I bought it and the man said” I am so happy this chair is going to people who will hand it down from generation to generation.”  He was so cute about it. It will be a fun story to tell Graham when he is older.

Here is a close up of the frame,I haven’t even read the thing inside, just loved the frame.

Here are most of the goodies I got at the two sales on Saturday. I love the sheets (bottom left) they have huge pink roses on them.  Yep, I got another jewelry box, I will give it to one of the girls.  Under the strawberry apron(top right) there is a down pillow, I got two of them.  They are in perfect condition, they spent the day airing on the clothes line.  Chad wants me to wash them just in case, even though they look perfect.  He is afraid of coodies:)  White ball fringe in the middle was FREEE, YIPPE!!!  The aqua chopper in the middle back actually works, Chad was might impressed.

I love the pink and green crocheted (I THINK) blanket, it is so detailed.  The problem with it is… IT is super scratchy.  Both of these smell like old moth balls.  The pink and green one is in the washer and the very fragile quilt is on the clothes line.  I just can’t leave a cheap quilt behind.

This little his towel was in a box with kitchen stuff, but it is in perfect shape.

Don’t you just LOVE vintage aprons, especially with strawberries on them!!!

Darling vintage straw bag, this will be going into the shoppe this week.

Two more vintage books, the one on the left, the lookies has a lot of cute graphics.  The one on the right is a French course book. I gave it to Chad to read because he has been wanting to learn French.  He is the Canadian sales manager and he thinks it would help with sales in the French territories.  He actually started to read it last night.  It is from 1932.

I got all of these for a quarter. The ornaments are really old and fragile.  Not sure what I am going to do with the light bulbs, maybe they will fit in a strand of lights.

I got these vintage patterns, not sure if all the pieces are there. If not they would be great for collage.

These are from the 50’s are they not sooooo cute!  I may frame them.  I would love one of the dresses and somewhere to wear them.

This table cloth is actually pale pink withe lilly of the valleys on it.  It is in PERFECT shape.  I love it, especially for a DOLLAR!!!

This next one is my FAVORITE  find!!!!!!

I got this coat for 10$, OMG I love it.  It fits perfectly, and the fur around the collar is REAL.  I know there are a lot of people who are against fur, and I don’t like the idea of killing helpless animals.  But this one was all ready made into a coat, so I am going to enjoy it. It is gray wool and lined with pink satiny lining.  I can’t wait for winter so I can wear it. Yes, I am going to wear it.  Maybe even just to go to the grocery store when it is cold.  The light behind me is making my hair look redish and hubby cut off my feet, so here is another picture with poor lighting, but I have feet. It is not the best photo of me, but it shows the coat.

Now, for the final giveaway question….

What is my favorite color?

All answers must be received by midnight EST Tonight.  Then I will tally up the scores and announce the winner tomorrow!

Weekend Finds & A Giveaway

Lately the yard sale scene has been not so good. Last weekend I went to a church sale, thinking there might be something FAB to be had. It was a terrible sale, but I did end up with two Items. Everything else was pure crap, there was a lot of it too.

I did get this cute valance, that is such pretty colors. I am not sure where I am going to hang it, but it is clean and waiting to be pressed. I am working on window treatments this week, I did hang one in my laundry room. Which made me realize how much nicer it looks and that I need to get my rear in gear on the rest of the house. Especially the kitchen because the sun beats in the windows in the am and it gets uncomfortable in there. Grahams room is a priority because he can see out one window from his bed which distracts him from napping. Anyhoo, I got off track. The other item I got is the cute vintage white bowl. It is a great size, I have all ready used it a couple of times.

I Only went to one sale yesterday, it was an estate sale. I arrived at 11:15 and started shopping around. As I was shopping, I overheard the ladies running it talking to another customer. They were telling her they were closing down at 11:30 for a half hour and then everything will be 1/2 off when they re-open. So I took the items in my hand and stashed them in a corner and went and stood outside in line. I was 4th in line to get back in. There I stood for 30 minutes with a bunch of other crazy people. I thought for sure there was no way I would get everything I had scoped out while inside the first time. They opened the doors at 12 exactly and frantically we all entered. I knew what I wanted so I headed straight for the dinning room, the bedroom where I stashed my stuff. I picked up this badminton set because it was only $2.50 and we had just played badminton the other night, without a net. My handy hubby put new grip tape on the rackets and they are like new.

Here are all the goodies I got other than the badminton set and a shelf I will show later in the post. Before they closed I had the red train case, the shoe rack, the sheet music, the wicker purse, the two hats, red appetizer trays and the bride and groom. I know that is most of the stuff, but the other items are what I really wanted but only at the half price.

This is my FAVORITE item, It was the item I stopped off at the dinning room for. I have ALWAYS wanted one of these, but they are usually 30-100$ which I am not willing to pay. So, I usually just drool over them and wish they were less expensive. The only reason I got it was because it was half price which made it $17.50, which is still a lot for a knick Knack, but way cheaper than I have ever seen one. She is in EXCELLENT shape, she still has her earrings and necklace, there are no chips or cracks. She is currently in my living room, I may have to move her to a room I use more so I can enjoy her.

This is my second favorite item, I spied it before I got in line and threw it under some other blankets so no one else would get to it first. It is a twin size, so I think I will turn it into some lovely pillows. I would not have bought this one if I didn’t get it for half price.

I love this old bride and groom, they are so old an fragile. I have them sitting on the pie safe in my kitchen right now as our anniversary is tomorrow. The big bummer is hubby leaves tomorrow for Idaho:( We celebrated today by going out to sushi for lunch, YUMMY!!!

I love this train case and it is more red in person, I may alter it or I may use it for storage. It needs a good cleaning, it was in the garage.

Here is the shelf I got. i am planning on painting it and using it for storage in the sewing room. chad promised Gwen she could help paint, however he has been painting my kitchen cabinets and I don’t think that is a great job for her. I am going to let her help me with this shelf and some shutters for the bathroom.

I love this shoe rack and the only thing that would make it better is if the decals were pink:) I got it for a buck. It is in my closet as we speak.

I love this vintage wicker purse, it is missing the flap that latches it closed. I would like to use it, it may just end up being storage, or I may just use it, who knows.

I could not leave these vintage appetizer trays, they are super cute. They will be in the store soon. I would love to keep them, because I love red and cherries, but that would cause me to add another color to the kitchen and a whole bunch more to collect.

I also got these two adorable vintage books to add to my collection. The one on the left is from 1946 and the one on the right is from 1914, it is not in as good of shape.

The book on the left is the one I got yesterday and the one on the right I got last year in Napa. They were both published by the same company. I love the illustrations on the covers of these, I would love to find more. The one on the left is Alice in wonderland and the one on the right is Little Women and the copywrite in 1947.

The bindings of these lovely books! Maybe someday I will read some of these great old books I keep buying.

Now for what you have been waiting for… the giveaway. I am going to do this one different than the last one. Each day this week I am going to post a question and who ever gets the most answers right will win. The winner will be announced next Monday July 28th. The winner will get to choose an item or items totaling 20$ or less from the Shoppe.  Please post answers in the comment section or email them to me.  This contest is open to US residents only, SORRY:(

Today’s question is: How long have I lived in North Carolina?

Good Luck!

Flea Market Finds-Sort of

Since Friday was a holiday, there were no go yard or estate sales, and there was not much to note on Saturday either.  So, I decided to head to a flea market, it was the WORST flea market I have ever been to, yikes.  There were about a dozen vendors, and everything was new and hideous, there was a fruit and veggie stand, but that is not what I was looking for.  After perusing the pitifulness, I walked back to the car and realized I parked by an antique store.  In I went, not with much hope because the antique stores here seem to be pretty pricey.  It was a big collective and most were high priced.  There was one booth that had everything for 1$, yippeee, my kind of booth.  So it wasn’t a total loss, I did get a couple of cute things.  I miss the fabulous vintage flea markets in CA:(

Here are two of my finds,a cute vintage mixing bowl, and a urn with A ROSE on it.

Interweave knits is having a sale on their books, they are 50%-75% off the cover price, such a great deal.  There are a ton of knitting, beading and other craft books on sale. Thought I should share this great deal with all you crafters out there.

These are the other items I got Saturday; I love the vintage coffee mug.  I currently have a bazillion white ones, 4 pink ones and two aqua ones.  I use to have a pretty green one, but it got a crack in it, so sad:(  My friend Donna in Napa has a polka dot mug that is vintage, it is adorable, would love to find one of those.  I was excited to find one with a pattern, and only pay $1 for it.  Eventually I may have to get rid of some of the white ones as I get more of the fun colored ones.  The two plates are appetizer size?  They went down in the basement with some other things I have collected to go with the atomic lounge theme I am planning to do down there.  That is once we get done with all the projects upstairs.  I am going to do some yoga and then get everyone ready, the girls have dentist appts. this afternoon.
