Brown Vintage Formal Dress
This vintage dress is sooo lovely. I found it at an estate sale and brought it home. It is a pretty shade of chocolate brown. It would make a great formal dress or a beautiful decoration. The measurements are about- 24" waist, the bust is about 32". and 26" from bottom of waist band to hem of skirt. The bodice is a lighter brown taffeta same color as the waist band which is made of satin. The bodice also has an overlay of lace. It has a brown collar that hooks at the back of the neck leaving a little peeaboo opening down the back to the top tp the waist band.The skirt is gathered at the waist with a double layer of sheer fabric, then a layer of the lighter brown taffeta and then a heavy built in crinolin. It need a good press and possible dry cleaning for a freshen up. There is a tag inside the skirt that says a size 10, this is a vintage size obviously smaller than a 10 today. It is in excellent vintage condition. I have not discovered any holes, and the zipper works great. In napa where I use to live, there was a lady who remade vintage dresses and she would have taken this one and cut the lace and attached it to the under layer making it strapless. Just an idea.
